Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:1

Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil will face Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei in the first round in Flushing Meadows. Bellucci is a typical South-American player who loves long rallies and has everything he needs to be good player. Bellucci is primarily an offensive baseliner with a powerful first serve and solid groundstrokes. His forehand is the more powerful shot but also the less reliable, as his backhand is much more consistent. He is also considered to be a good mover who is able to move efficiently on different contrasting surfaces like clay and hard courts.

His opponent will be Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei. Lu is just an average player in our eyes but his current form is not bad at all. Last year he participated at the Beijing Olympics with a first round match against Andy Murray, currently ranked world number two. Despite the difficulties of the match he shocked the audiences by defeating Murray in two straight. He eventually lost to Jurgen Melzer of Austria in the third round. He is an inconsistent player who likes to play on Asian hard courts but his opponent won´t be the easy nut to crack.

We like Bellucci´s chances and will stay with him at the odds above 1.85.
