Germany-Czech Republic (Fed Cup)

Date: 4th Feb 2012
Event: Germany-Czech Republic (Fed Cup)
Tip: Germany
Office: Pinnacle
Units: 2
Odds: 2.330
Result: 1:4
Outcome: -2.000
Analysis: Czech players begin title defence against the very tough opponents. The first round tie away to Germany will definitely not be an easy test. Sabine Lisicki is in the absence of the injured Andrea Petkovic the German number one. She will open the tie against Czech number 2 Iveta Benesova and there is no way for Czech player to win this one. The two previous meetings between them in 2009, both on hard courts, were split one apiece and both made the last 16 last month at the Australian Open, but the current form and home crowd make Lisicki huge favourite here. Julia Goerges will then have a very difficult task to beat the World number 2 – Petra Kvitova. On Sunday, Lisicki will be looking to score a second career win over Kvitova following a straight sets victory against her in Miami three years ago. It should be a tight match with unpredictable result but Goerges is then drawn to face Benesova, which is the match German player should be able to win. In doubles, Germany’s Angelique Kerber and Anna-Lena Groenfeld will face the Czechs Lucie Hradecka and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova and anything can happen here. We see the equal chance on both sides and the same can be said about the whole tie Anything above 2.2 is of a high value for us.

Djokovic-Nadal (ATP Australian Open)

Event: Djokovic-Nadal (ATP Australian Open)
Tip: Nadal
Office: Pinnacle
Odds: 2.390
Result: 3:2
Outcome: -3.000
Analysis: Head-to-head record 16:13

Rafael Nadal will fight Novak Djokovic in 2012 Australian Open finals. Djokovic has been playing unbelievably well last season but he has often been very lucky in crucial moments. To be honest, we don’t like him and we don’t like the way he behaves on court. He defeated Murray in epic battle last round and must be tired. Nadal has one more day to take a rest and we think he should be well prepared for this one. Nadal is currently the World number 2 and lost to Djokovic 6 times last year but we still think he is the better player than Djokovic and he is a favourite for the finals. He has been struggling lately but he always plays best tennis when it matters most which he showed against Federer. In a long term, Nadal is more consistent player and we think his current form is good enough to finally beat his 2011 Nemesis. Anything above 2.1 is worth taking for us.

Federer-Del Potro (ATP Australian Open)

Date: 23th Jan 2012
Event: Federer-Del Potro (ATP Australian Open)
Tip: Del Potro
Office: 5Dimes
Units: 2
Odds: 3.950
Result: 3:0
Outcome: -2.000
Analysis: Head-to-head record 7:2

Roger Federer will play Juan Martin Del Potro and many people already see Federer in the next round but we don’t think it is going to be that smooth for Swiss favourite. Del Potro is an extremely talented player who was unfortunately stopped by serious injury last year. He is primarily an offensive baseliner with a powerful first serve and solid groundstrokes. His forehand shot is his most powerful weapon and he also possesses a very consistent two-handed backhand. Despite his height, Del Potro is also considered one of the best movers on the ATP tour, able to move efficiently on various surfaces like clay and hard courts. Del Potro's height allows him to get a powerful first serve, and not be bothered by high topspin balls. His best surfaces are hard and clay, but generally his game is suited to all surfaces. He plays in a great form here and he already knows what it takes to beat Federer. He managed to defeat Federer when Swiss was at his best and we expect a very tight match here. Federer plays in a good form but he has not been tested properly so far. Tomic was really poor in the last round and this is surely going to be a totally different match. Del Potro should not be above 3.5.

Ferrer-Gasquet (ATP Australian Open)

Date: 22th Jan 2012
Event: Ferrer-Gasquet (ATP Australian Open)
Tip: Gasquet
Office: Pinnacle
Units: 3
Odds: 2.950
Result: 3:0
Outcome: -3.000
Analysis: Head-to-head record 5:1

David Ferrer will play Richard Gasquet in round 16 and French player is a slight favourite for us. Gasquet plays in a great form here in Melbourne and should be confident enough. He has already defeated Seppi, Golubev and Tipsarevic and performed well in all the matches he played. He is one of the biggest talents of the world of tennis but has never fulfilled his potential. He is praised for his powerful and precise one-handed backhand and for his flair and shot-making ability. As we said, he has earned much praise for his "natural talent." He is however getting more consistent and we expect another difficulties for Ferrer today. Ferrer is one of the best baseliners nowadays. His playing style is best tailored for clay courts, with a strong two-handed backhand, well-angled topspin strokes, incredibly fast mobility on the court, and a preference to play from the deep court. His serve is probably his weakest point but he is extremely athletic, and tends to go after every shot, even apparent winners from his opponents. He is considered to be the best returner on the tour and his recent run is just admirable. He already won in Auckland this year but he is not that impressive. He lost 2 sets to Sweeting and added 2 straight sets wins over weak Machado and Chela. In Auckland, he won the tournament but played several tight matches against the average opponents and he hasn’t showed anything that would make him such a big favourite here. Anything above 2.5 is worth taking.

Zvonareva-Makarova (WTA Australian Open)

Date: 20th Jan 2012
Event: Zvonareva-Makarova (WTA Australian Open)
Tip: Makarova
Office: Pinnacle
Units: 1
Odds: 3.970
Result: 0:2
Outcome: 2.970
Analysis: Head-to-head record 1:1

Ekaterina Makaroa of Russia will meet her country mate Vera Zvonareva in the third round at Australian Open. Zvonareva is a baseline counterpuncher with good offensive capabilities. She is known for her fitness and speed, owing to her excellent lateral movement, and can therefore outrun many opponents during rallies. Her groundstrokes are powerful and are usually hit very flat, with minimal topspin, though she herself admits that she can adjust her style of play to the court conditions when needed. Her best shot is her two-handed backhand. Zvonareva's primary weakness is her mental fragility, which costs her matches when she self-destructs. Her last season was not that bad but didn’t looked confident at the end of the year. She started the year with a devastating loss to Kuznetsova and doesn’t look impressive in Melbourne neither. She defeated Dulgheru and Hradecka but both matches were pretty close. Her opponent Ekaterina Makarova defeated Tanasugarn in the first round but shocked with straight sets win over Kanepi in the second round. She plays a great tennis here and we don’t think she is such a big underdog here. Anything above 3.5 can be taken.

Benesova-Bratchikova (WTA Australian Open)

Event: Benesova-Bratchikova (WTA Australian Open)
Tip: Bratchikova
Office: 5Dimes
Units: 2
Odds: 2.680
Result: 2:0
Outcome: -2.000
Analysis: Head-to-head record 0:0

Russian qualifier Nina Bratchikova will fight Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic in the third round. Benesova has achieved her career best results on clay but slow hard courts are suited to her game as well. She uses extreme topspin on her forehand and slower topspin and slice on her backhand. She is a patient baseliner who wins matches by disrupting her opponents' rhythm through changes of spin, pace, depth, height, and angle. Her current form looks just ok but her best years are probably gone. She surprised by beating Shuai Peng in the second round but we are still not convinced she should be such a big favourite here. Her opponent will be Russian Bratchikova who plays her career best tennis right now. She began the year in a great style coming through the qualifiers in Brisbane to be eliminated in the second round of the main draw by Jelena Jankovic. In Hobart, she was defeated in the third round of qualifiers but she lost to eventual winner Mona Barthel after a great performance in 3 sets. Here in Melbourne, she came through the quallies once again without losing a single set and shocked in the first round by beating Flavia Pennetta. In the second, she demolished Brianti and just confirmed high confidence and good form. We think her run can continue and she have enough to beat Benesova here. Anything above 2.5 if good enough to take.

Outcome: -2.000
Analysis: Head-to-head record 1:1

Canadian superstar Milos Raonic will play German Philipp Petzschner in round 2. There is no need to introduce Raonic who had the sensational season last year but still needs to prove he deserves to be such a big favourite against the likes of Petzschner. Raonic has had some injury problems in the second half of last year but he looked fine in Chennai earlier this year. In the first round, he demolished Volandri who is however quite weak on hard courts. Raonic´s game is based on powerful and accurate serve. He says that his favourite shots are the serve and overhead smash and he states that his favourite surfaces to play on are hard courts. He is extremely proficient in all four main types of serves used, the flat, slice, topspin and kick serves. Raonic also has a strong forehand which he prefers to hit inside-out. He will play German Philipp Petzschner who played an excellent match on Monday and gave no chance to Czech Lukas Rosol winning 6-0,6-0,6-2. He also has a great serve and if he keeps the level of play he showed in the first round, he is going to be a tough opponent for Canadian favourite. Anything around 4.0 can be tried here.

Office: Pinnacle
Units: 3
Odds: 2.360
Result: 0:2
Outcome: 4.080
Analysis: Head-to-head record 0:0

Experienced Russian player Nadia Petrova will play Italian clay court specialist Sara Errani in the second round. Petrova is former World No 3 but she is now far from her best and it is very unlikely she will ever manage to get back. She is a baseline counterpuncher with good offensive capabilities. Her groundstrokes are powerful and are usually hit very flat, with minimal topspin, though she herself admits that she can adjust her style of play to the court conditions when needed. She hasn’t played a single match in 2012 until the Australian Open in the first round of which she hasn’t convinced us she has a good form. She defeated Czech qualifier in 3 sets and will now face Italian Sara Errani who demolished another qualifier Savinykh in the first round. Despite her small size, she has a relatively powerful serve. Her footwork, balance, and court coverage are exceptional and she is adept at changing from a defensive style to an aggressive one. She likes to play on slow surfaces but is competitive on hard courts as well. We expect a very tight match and Errani is a slight favourite for us.

Medina-Govortsova (WTA Australian Open)

Date: 17th Jan 2012
Event: Medina-Govortsova (WTA Australian Open)
Tip: Govortsova
Office: Centrebet
Units: 1
Odds: 3.000
Result: 2:0
Outcome: -1.000
Analysis: Head-to-head record 0:0

Olga Govortsova from Belarus will face Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues in the second round in Melbourne. Medina is an experienced player who has won eleven singles titles during her career. She is one of the most unpredictable players, as she is capable of spectacular shotmaking especially with her outstanding backhand and clever dropshots. Like many of her Spanish compatriots, she is a very crafty clay court specialist who grinds to win most of her rallies. However, unlike most of her fellow Spaniards, she is very competitive on hard courts as well. Her current form is not ideal.
Belarusian prodigy Olga Govortsova is an offensive baseliner. Her game relies heavily on the power, depth and placement of her forehand strokes, producing lots of winners through penetrating, flat shots, with the occasional spice of topspin. She has a huge but inconsistent serve and the mental condition is probably her weakest point. She demolished Mayr in the first round here and she can win this clash today too. Odds around 2.7 our good enough for us.

Tomic-Querrey (ATP Australian Open)

Date: 17th Jan 2012
Event: Tomic-Querrey (ATP Australian Open)
Tip: Querrey
Office: Pinnacle
Units: 2
Odds: 3.440
Result: 3:1
Outcome: -2.000
Analysis: Head-to-head record 0:0

Sam Querrey is a typical American bomber. His height allows him to play with a huge serve and forehand. He is an offensive baseliner, and is known for his powerful serve. Last year was a difficult year for Querrey and one in which he struggled with injury. Despite this he reached the quarterfinals of two tournaments, both ATP 500 series. The first in Memphis in February, where he lost to Mardy Fish, and the second in Valencia, where he was beaten by Juan Martín del Potro. He was eliminated in the second round of the French Open by Ljubicic, and did not play at Wimbledon or the US Open, due to an elbow injury that required surgery. Before he got injured, he had been a stable member of top 20 and we think it´s just a matter of time when we see him back. He is now back on the scene and was impressive in the first round where he defeated De Schepper easily. He will now face much better opponent, home idol Bernard Tomic. He began his 2012 ATP World Tour season at the Brisbane International. In the first round, despite trailing a break in the final set, Tomic bounced back and defeated Julien Benneteau. In the second round, Tomic breezed past the Japanese qualifier Tatsuma Ito in straight sets. Tomic was then victorious over Denis Istomin from Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals. In his maiden ATP semifinals, he was defeated by Murray easily. After the Brisbane International, Tomic played in the AAMI Classic in preparation for the Australian Open. In the first round, he defeated Verdasco in 5 sets. He is a big talent of current tennis and will be supported by the home crowd but he is still young and inconsistent. With respect to his inconsistency, we don´t believe he deserves to be such a big favourite against the former top 20 player who will likely get back to top soon. Anything above 3 is good enough for us.
