Year summary
5th Dec 2010, 16:04
Dear TFB subscribers,
Please, let us take this opportunity to thank you again for a long-term favor and loyalty you have been showing. The tennis season is coming to an end and so we would like to glance back briefly in the following paragraphs.
In 2010, we have placed 206 bets with the total yield of 3.0%. Our overall yield remains at 16% but when compared to the previous years, this was by far the worst season we ever had. We are in green numbers again but we cannot be happy with the numbers reached. Therefore we had to discuss everything what has been done in details to figure out the strategy for the next year. In this context, we are happy to say that we managed to complement our team with professional tennis odds maker with almost 5 years working experience from one of the most famous online bookies.
This season was kind of sad as with Taylor Dent´s retirement, we are witnessing the end of one wonderful tennis era – serve and volley. Dent was the last American player who played the game first and foremost, charging the net. He was nowhere near as successful as Dementieva who also retired this year but it is more significant as it represents the loss of popular playing style.
There is just a few last tournaments where the surface would have suited to serve and volleyers as the courts are getting slower in modern game. With the exception of Paris, Lyon, Rotterdam and couple of others, courts all lack pace compared to several years ago. The technology of tennis is unfortunately taking the game in one direction. With heavier balls, slower courts and the new strings enabling to hit the ball with so much spin, everything works for Nadal and other players who would have been rated as pure clay-courters a few years ago. We still have a few remaining serve-and-volleyers in the guys such as Karlovic, Llodra, Mahut, Stepanek, Fish or Isner but most of them tend to use this technique only when they feel it will be effective. Another common fact is that all these guys are not of the youngest generation which puts the men's game is in danger of slipping into the same pattern as the women's has. It is time to do something about it and bring the quicker courts back on the scene. We hope to live to experience the comeback of the game we already miss. It would surely be welcome by tennis bettors too.
We however hope that the next year will be much better and that we´ll continue the way we´ve started.
With Best Wishes,
TFB Team
