Analysis

Head-to-head record 2:0

We would never say that we will ever back against Del Potro as he is future number one for us. But here we go with 2 points bet against Argentine. He will face the big serving Croat Marin Cilic in the fourth round. Cilic is a great talent of current tennis world and just like other Croatian players he feels best on fast surfaces. Tall and powerfully built, he is noted for his strong serve and will appreciate the fast conditions tonight. He uses one-handed backhand and often plays from the baseline. It also must be mentioned that even if he hasn’t demolished his opponent in previous rounds, he still remains unbeaten this year. Del Potro is an extremely talented player and we think he is already far ahead of Nadal or Djokovic and probably more versatile than Murray. This is the guy the tennis future will belong to. Del Potro is primarily an offensive baseliner with a powerful first serve and solid groundstrokes. His forehand shot is his most powerful weapon and he also possesses a very consistent two-handed backhand. Despite his height, Del Potro is also considered one of the best movers on the ATP tour, able to move efficiently on various surfaces like clay and hard courts. Del Potro's height allows him to get a powerful first serve, and not be bothered by high topspin balls. Del Potro's best surfaces are hard and clay, but generally his game is suited to all surfaces. He possesses positive H2H against Croat but we simply weren’t impressed by Argentine in the previous rounds. There is some X factor in Del Potro´s game and from time to time, he tends to play really poor and this is the difference between him and Federer. He is not that consistent and his shocking losses to the likes of Fischer, Roger-Vasselin or even Melzer are something that Roger has always managed to avoid. Well, he has beaten Russel, Blake and Mayer here but all of these matches were pretty tight and something is telling us that he is not as his best. Odds aren´t brilliant bearing in mind that Cilic is far from being impressive too but still worth trying as he is definitely a better player than the ones named above.
