And Robin Soderling once again, this time against his lifetime Nemesis - Novak Djokovic. As we said, Soderling is one of our most favourite players and is still far behind his abilities. With his talent, he should definitely be somewhere around top 5, though the lack of mental strength and consistency in his game has been his weakness. But in recent years, his mental toughness has improved considerably and this has raised the consistency of his game. Söderling is known for his power game, hitting both hard groundstrokes and hard serves, making it very difficult for his opponents to break his serve. Most notably on his forehand side, he possesses a massive wingspan in his right arm, allowing him to hit gigantic forehands. Most of his success has come on faster surfaces (hard courts and indoor carpet), despite his 2009 run to the French Open final. There is no doubt that Djokovic is one of the biggest talents in the world of tennis. He has had a stellar season so far and actually defeated Swede few days ago. He has great groundstrokes, especially forehand which is powerful, deep, well angled, and hit with strong topspin. With excellent speed, serve is one of his major weapons. Djokovic is very sound and powerful from the baseline but often finishes points by coming to the net as well. He is a good player but we don´t think there is such a big difference between these two. Last match was pretty tight and Soderling was a better player in our eyes. Don´t see a reason why this couldn’t happen once again. 1 point here. |
