| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:1 New-born Spaniard Feliciano Lopez will play hope player Arnaud Clement. Like many of the top Spanish players Lopez is left-handed, however unlike some of his compatriots he uses a single-handed backhand. Once during a Davis Cup match when Spain played the U.S., Jimmy Arias a commentator said that, "Lopez may have the weakest backhand of any top 50 player I've ever seen, maybe with the exception of Fernando Vicente". He will usually slice his backhand instead of opting for the topspin drive. He is known for his strong serve and ability to play balls repetitively on the baseline. He is also a confident net player and has been known to adopt the serve-and-volley routine of play during matches. He is a versatile player who plays well on all surfaces but he sometimes lacks consistency and he is not a typical fighting bull like his compatriots Nadal od Verdasco. He had a terrible season but regenerate during the last tournaments which makes him the slight favourite today. On the other hand, he will face Arnaud Clement who will be supported by the hope crowd. Frenchman feels great within these conditions and came through the quallies here. He caught the second breath during the last weeks and we think he won´t capitulate without a fight. Anything above 2.2 is worth taking for us. |
