Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

Ukrainian qualifier Oleksandr Dolgopolov Jr. will face Argentine Zeballos in the second round at St Petersburg. Both players are relatively unknown but both of them are having career best season this year. Dolgopolov is an offensive baseliner, he employs a fairly traditional technique with his forehand, double-handed backhand and serve, but is notable in the degree of power with which he hits his shots. He was prone to inconsistency but his latest results were more than solid. He was impressive on both clay and hard court challengers lately and quallied easily for this event. In the first round, he got past Ginepri in a great style and if he continues that way, he can make it even further. His opponent will be Argentine player Horacio Zeballos. He has a dreamy season this year and by many successes on challenger circuit, he improved his rankings unbelievably to the current World Number 54. Zeballos is a left-hander who is capable of spectacular shotmaking especially with his outstanding backhand and clever dropshots. On the other hand, he prefers clay and wasn’t impressive in the first round against wretched Schukin. We don’t think he deserves to be a favourite here and the slight favourite for us is Dolgopolov.
