| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:0 German qualifier Julia Goerges will face Sorana Cirstea in the first round at Linz. Sorana is a Romanian youngster with great future ahead of her but let´s have a look at her YTD statistics. She is 21-22 in 2009 and hasn’t shown a lot on outside the clay with the exception of LA semifinals. She has a relatively weak serve and her game is best suited to clay courts. Her movement and power are solid but she is still looking for some kind of form on hard courts this year. She has lost 13 times in the first round this year which is simple too much for such a talented player. Her form is not ideal and we think she won´t have it easy against German qualifier. Julia Goerges is also very talented player with comparatively good serve and solid movement which makes her dangerous on all surfaces. Her game is built largely around her groundstrokes, including her two-handed backhand, and serve, which she hits with excellent placement. She is 34-18 this year and was impressive in quallies beating Karatantcheva, Ondraskova and Zahlavova-Strycova all in straight sets. She is playing in a good shape and we don’t think she deserves to be the underdog here. Odds above 1.9 are good enough for us. |
