| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland will play Andy Roddick in the second round at Shanghai Masters. It is maybe a crazy pick but we saw Andy last week and it was one of the poorest matches he has ever played. He is not serving his best and his self-confidence is probably not high enough. He lost to Isner, Querrey or Kubot lately and now, he is facing another dangerous player. Wawrinka is not the top class player but he is able to surprise anybody. He considers clay his best surface, and the backhand his best shot. John McEnroe believes Wawrinka has one of the most powerful backhands he has ever seen and describes him as having "the best one-handed backhand in the game today". He defeated Kubot in the first round and even if his form is not ideal, we expect a tight match. With first round match under the belt, he should be able to keep it close against Roddick today. Bearing in mind that Roddick hasn’t been convincing lately and that he hasn’t played the first round match, odds around 4 are a bit high for us. 1-point bet on Wawrinka. |
