| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 German bomber Philipp Petzschner will play his fellow countryman, qualifier Florian Mayer. Florian was known for his unique, creative style of play. He has a huge backswing on his forehand and uses a lot of difference slices and spin on his backhand side. He is well known for his jumping backhand dropshots which catches many of his opponents on the back foot. He doesn’t really mind the surface he plays on as his style of play is suited to all surfaces. Mayer reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 33 in 2004 but he has been struggling since that time. His current form is questionable and YTD record isn´t impressive at all but he came through the qualifiers for the third time in a row and we believe he will finally have some luck in the main draw. He will play another German Philipp Petzschner whose latest results weren´t convincing. He was known for a good serve but he has serious problems on serve in his last matches. He produced numerous double faults and his self-confidence is probably low. He should feel fine on this surface, but it doesn’t justify him to be a favourite against Mayer who has the qualifying matches under the belt. We think the chances are 50:50 and anything above 2 is thus good enough for us. |
