Analysis

Roddick and Haas are about to meet again and we will support German player in this one. Firstly, he can play Andy Roddick as he is great returner and he leads 7-4 in their heads-ups. Furthermore, they met 4 times on clay and Haas won all of these matches. Last but not least, Roddick had the marriage recently and he lacks match practice at all. This is going to be his first YTD clay court appearance and we doubt he will be hundred percent concentrated on this match. The match will be played on Manolo Santana centre court which is one of the fastest ones and so Roddick will probably appreciate these conditions. However, we don’t see Haas to be such a big underdog here. We have praised Andy Roddick in past for his style which is that of an all-court player. He uses his powerful serve to earn free points or position himself in order to make a forehand winner. He often stays in the baseline after a serve but also serves-and-volleys quite often as well. But it is widely known that he needs fast surface to play his best and he has never made any remarkable success on European clay. Tommy Haas is old war horse whose form is rising though. He came through the qualifiers and was confident in the first round as well. His best years are gone but we still think he doesn’t deserve to be above 2.4. Small stake on German player.
