| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:2 German Philipp Kohlschreiber will play Marin Cilic for the second time in two weeks. Last week he was demolished by Croat but the conditions in Munich are much faster and more suitable to Marin Cilic. They are now going to play on the court number 5 which is the slowest one and Kohlschreiber should feel much better here. German is an offensive baseliner but plays well on all surfaces. His best results come from hard courts and even if his latest results weren´t impressive, he played well in the first round here (smashing dangerous clay courter Almagro) and should be more confident against Cilic. As we said many times, Cilic is a great talent of current tennis world but is not a clay court specialist. Tall and powerfully built, he is noted for his strong serve and has achieved his best results in indoor tournaments played on carpet or hardcourt. He uses one-handed backhand and often plays from the baseline. He has been showing some signs of improvement on clay over the last weeks but his career record on clay is still negative which is not usual for the player of his class. We think that German could exploit the slow conditions on court no.5 and is definitely worth trying with the odds above 2.3. |
