Spanish veteran Alberto Martin will play experienced Frenchman Marc Gicquel in the first round of his home tournament. Alberto Martin has won three singles titles and one doubles title. He plays right-handed, and is typical Spanish clay court player. He has reached his career-best results on the slowest surface. Martin's best Grand Slam performance was reaching the fourth round of Roland Garros in 2006.
