| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:0 Bosnian tennis player Mervana Jugic-Salkic will face experienced French Emilie Loit today in Barcelona. Loit is a better known player who rose to fame when she played against American Serena Williams 6–3, 6–7, 5–7 in this tough match at Australian Open 2003. In her career Loit has won three career singles titles: Estoril, Casablanca and Acapulco (all on clay) but she is currently far from that player who won 2 tournaments back in 2004. Loit's highest WTA Ranking has been #27 in singles but she already dropped out of top 100 and she doesn’t seem to be able to come back. Her best years are over. She played in qualifiers here but lost to Savranska and only advanced as a lucky looser. Jugic is relatively unknown player but her current form is solid as she came through the qualifiers beating Hlavackova, Bovina and Dentoni all in straight sets. She has never reached any remarkable success on WTA circuit but she feels well on clay and if she continues in what she has been playing in qualifiers, she should be able to dominate her opponent here. Odds above 1.9 are worth taking for us. |
