| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Spanish veteran Alberto Martin will play Romanian clay-courter Victor Hanescu in the first round. Alberto Martin has won three singles titles and one doubles title. He plays right-handed, and is typical Spanish clay court player. He has reached his career-best results on the slowest surface. Martin's best Grand Slam performance was reaching the fourth round of Roland Garros in 2006. En route to this performance, Martin's first round win was his first victory over former World number 1 Andy Roddick in their fifth encounter. He also managed to beat Lleyton Hewitt or Carlos Moya. However, he has been struggling over the last few years and spent most of his time on challenger circuit. On the other hand, he currently plays in a solid form and was pretty impressive in qualifiers here. He will play one of the most unpredictable players on ATP circuit. Hanescu is a giant with solid serve and worse movement but miraculously he likes the clay and has achieved career best results clay. His career record on clay is 62-48 which is hardly believable for someone with his movement. But like we said, Beto Martin plays in a solid shape eight now, he was impressive in qualifiers and has a lot of experience on dirt. Odds above 2.2 are surely worth trying here. |
