Analysis for Soderling-Bolelli (ATP Monte Carlo)

Italian Simone Bolelli will play Robin Soderling of Sweden in Monte Carlo. Many of you know that Soderling is our favourite player and we have praised him in past. His style is that of an all-court player. He uses his powerful serve to earn free points or position himself in order to make a forehand winner. He often stays in the baseline after a serve but also serves-and-volleys quite often as well. Soderling´s playing style is all about the killing serve and thus he is everything but clay court specialist. He has a negative career clay court record of 34-35 and he is also far from being consistent. He proved it this year as well when his terrible performance at Indian Wells was followed by stellar run in Sunrise with another terrible loss coming a week later in Miami. We like him for his aggressive hit or miss style he is able to defeat anyone in the World with but his consistency is his weakest point. Furthermore, his style of play is best suited to indoor courts and like we said, he is not the claycourter. His opponent, Italian Simone Bolelli is currently one of the top Italian tennis players. He performs well on all surfaces. He considers his forehand his best shot, plays right-handed and has a double-handed backhand. Bolelli is not a typical Italian player having a solid serve and playing well on fast surfaces as well as on clay. When he has his day, he can be dangerous to anyone and he wasn’t far from beating Rafael Nadal in Rotterdam this year. Bearing in mind the surface they are going to play on, we don’t think that Italian should be such a big underdog. Anything above 2.3 is worth trying for a small stake.
