| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:0 This is probably a surprising pick for you as Gilles Simon is not our favourite player and we are often betting against him. This may be the first bet on him ever and the reason is that his odds don’t reflect his true chance in our eyes. Gilles Simon has improved immeasurably in 2008 but it looks he is currently not at his best, even when his YTD record is positive (12-8). Simon struggled during the Hopman Cup. He then improved at Australian Open but it is still not the player from the end of 2008. After several poor performances, he showed some signs of improvement here in Miami again. He likes this slower surface more that ultra-fast indoor courts and usually plays his best within these conditions. If he serves his best, he is able to keep it close with his fellow country man. Tsonga is known for his powerful, precise serves, as well as heavy forehands. Additionally, his backhand down the line has become one of the best in men's tennis. He has an offensive baseline style of play, and is also known for his superb feel at the net. He is currently one of the very few remaining players who often utilize a serve-and-volley type of play. He is a player of big potential and definitely has a great future ahead of him. On the other hand, we expect the tight match as Simon is never easy to play against and odds above 2.8 are definitely worth trying for the lowest stake. |
