| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Argentine qualifier Maximo Gonzalez will play Spanish veteran Carlos Moya. Spaniard is one of the greatest players of last decade but his best years are probably over. Moya plays with well-angled topspin heavy strokes, a strong two-handed backhand, fast mobility on the court, and a preference to play from the deep court. Known for his excellent defense, Moya hits well on the run and creates many winners from seemingly defensive positions. Because of his extreme athleticism, Moya tends to go after every shot. Historically, Moya's playing style has worked best on clay courts but he has always been competitive on fast surfaces as well. He is an experienced player but his self confidence at the moment is probably very low. His latest record is really poor and he is still waiting for the big result this year. This is going to be his clay court debut in 2009 but he will face promising Argentine who already has many dirt matches under the belt this year. He is a typical South American player who grew up on clay and plays his best on the slowest surface. His current form is more than solid as he advanced through the qualifiers for the second time in a row having unbelievable YTD record of 15-2. Last week in Brasil, he played excellent match against his more famous namesake Fernando Gonzalez and delivered great performance there even if he eventually lost. We expect the similar match today with hopefully more luck for Maximo Gonzalez. Odds above 2.3 are worth trying here. |
