Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

French veteran Emilie Loit will face Nicole Vaidisova, the former young star who is totally broken at the moment. She had a disastrous 2008 year reaching the record of 19-19 which is more than poor for the player of her caliber. The week after the Australian Open, Vaidisova won both of her Fed Cup singles matches in the tie against Slovakia. At the Tier II Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships, she lost in the second round to World No. 2 Ana Ivanovic. The loss in Dubai was the first of six consecutive losses by Vaidisova, four of which were at Tier I tournaments and one of which was at a Grand Slam tournament. She ended her losing streak at the Tier III DFS Classic, played on grass courts in Birmingham, United Kingdom. She won her first two matches before losing in the third round to World No. 81 U.S. player Bethanie Mattek. Vaidisova was the 18th seed at Wimbledon where she lost to unseeded World No. 133 Zheng Jie in the quarterfinals. She was the 20th-seeded player at the US Open but lost to unseeded Severine Bremond in the second round. Vaidisova´s first tournament of 2009 was the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, in which she lost to Elena Vesnina of Russia 6-4, 6-3 in the second round. She then lost to Mara Santangelo in the first round of Hobart, 6-1, 6-1 and in the first round of the 2009 Australian Open to Severine Bremond in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Her current results are awful and it has been very disappointing to watch her game. She is known for her emotional outbursts during matches, and has smashed numerous rackets. She frequently verbally berates herself for lost points, speaking in Czech and English. Her mental condition is the weakest point of her game without any doubts and her current confidence must be at the bottom. To be honest, she is so devastated that it doesn’t really matter who she is going to play. We would probably bet against her in any case. It is just a bonus that she will play dangerous and experienced qualifier Emilie Loit. She plays in a solid shape here beating Olaru, Schruff and Pin all in straight sets in quallies. Her confidence must be hign and odds around 1.9 are interesting enough for us.
