Ukrainian qualifier Yuliya Beygelzimer plays Anastasia Rodionova of Russia in the first round. Both of these players spent most of their career on ITF circuit and haven´t achieved any remarkable success on WTA yet. Beygelzimer is perhaps best known for almost beating Jennifer Capriati at the 2004 French Open, leading 3 games to 0 in the final set. Despite her well-played matcsh against Capriati, Beygelzimer has never made a WTA singles semifinal at a tournament. She has, however, had WTA doubles success with Mervana Jugic-Salkic and Tatiana Poutchek, winning a title on one occasion with each. On the ITF circuit, Beygelzimer is a winner of 9 singles titles and 18 doubles titles. She hasn’t played a single match this year so far but she entered the qualifiers here in Pattaya and made it to the main event. She will play Anastasia Rodionova who is definitely not at her best. She is 0-3 this year and also, she has the career record of 0-3 against Beygelzimer. Last year, Anastasia Rodionova had the disastrous season as well reaching the record of 17-26. She was considered to be a big talent of Russian tennis having won 2000 Russian Championships 18s in singles and doubles but haven´t met these expectations yet. In 2007, she became only the second player in WTA Tour history to be disqualified from a match when she launched a ball at supporters during Cincinnati's Open. As of 2008 she is representing Australian tennis but her results remain poor indeed. We don’t think she is able to break the negative record against Beygelzimer today. Odds around 1.9 are worth taking for us.
