South African Izak Van der Merwe will play French qualifier De Chaunac in the second round. Both of these players posted solid wins yesterday. Both are relatively unknown and we expect a very tight match today. Van der Merwe is a tall guy who is known for his booming serve which is attributed to his height. Additionally he is known to back up his huge serves with approaches to the net, though he does not strictly serve-and-volley. His play is suited well to the fast surface in Johannesburg and it will be nit easy for De Chaunac to break his serve.
