| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:4 The French veteran, Sebastien Grosjean makes his comeback against Ginepri in Lyon. Considered one of the more popular players on the circuit, Grosjean is lauded for his attractive, graceful style and classical skills. He is affectionately nicknamed 'Big John' by fans, a literal translation of his surname into English. Grosjean is known for his extreme forehand, his best shot, he utilizes some what of an extreme western grip, which is hit at high velocities. He has a lot of experience and even if this season was terrible for him, we believe he is able to show his best in front of his home audience. Grosjean has appeared in four Grand Slam semifinal matches. As well as his two Wimbledon runs, he also reached the French Open semi-finals in 2001. His most famous chance was at the 2001 Australian Open against Arnaud Clément. Grosjean led two sets to love and had a match point in the fourth set before Clément prevailed. He will play American Robbie Ginepri in the first round - Ginepri is the player that we like for his confidence, offensive style of play and fighting spirit. However, he has been struggling earlier this year and drop out of top 100 which is the rank that doesn’t correspond to the player of his class. Ginepri adopts an offensive baseline strategy which he achieves through his aggressive powerful forehands. He possesses very strong forehand with powerful service returns. Apart from this shot, he possesses a relatively reliable two-handed backhand and his serve is also pretty solid. However, 2007 was a nightmare season for him. He slipped to No. 171 after this year's Australian Open, where he failed to qualify for the main draw. This season has been much better for him so far but we still don´t understand his price here. We don’t think he should be such a big favourite against experienced Frenchman and we must go against him with the odds above 3. |
