| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Czech prodigy Petra Kvitova will face experienced Patty Schnyder of Switzerland. We have already praised the Czech talent in past. She is the big hope of Czech tennis and the biggest young talent ever since Nicole Vaidisova has appeared. She is just 18 years old but already managed to defeat the top players such as Venus Williams. Her career record is really impressive. Of course, she has been gaining experience at small ITF tournaments so far but we think her time is coming and she already played many big tournaments this year. Kvitova has everything she needs to become a top player – speed, power, confidence and solid technique. She is a tall and aggressive player who feels well on fast surfaces. Furthermore, she came through the qualifiers here in Zurich destroying well known players Johansson, Pironkova and Groenefeld. She will face very experienced Patty Schynder is the first round. During her long career, Swiss has reached six Grand Slam quarterfinals, and one Grand Slam semifinal. She has won 11 WTA singles titles and added 5 WTA doubles titles and has always been impressive in front of her home crowd. But we still think that her opponent, Petra Kvitova, is a player of bright future and we are keen to support her at these huge odds. |
