| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Belgian qualifier Steve Darcis will face Mardy Fish of United States in the first round at Madrid Masters. Darcis should be better prepared and is well suited to indoor conditions as he already played several indoor tournaments lately. On the other hand, Fish´s preparation is questionable as he hasn’t played a single match since US Open. Both of them have solid indoor record. However, Fish has rarely played his best outside the US. Furthermore, Darcis is coming off the qualifiers here and he seems to be in a good shape. Darcis was fairly successful as a junior reaching #8 in the world and beating the likes Baghdatis, Murray or Berdych. We think he has a good potential for further improvement and could prove it today. Mardy Fish is hardly predictable player but if he has his day, he is able to keep the match close with almost everyone on the circuit. He always felt best on North-American hard courts and we are not sure what to expect from him today. But a tight match is generally expected here and odds at this level are good enough for us. |
