Analysis for Delic-Soeda (ATP Tokyo)

Japanese number 2, Go Soeda will play Amer Delic of United States in the opening round at Tokyo tournament. American is noted for his good serve and he is known as a typical American hard court player. He feels comfortable on fast surfaces as he possesses offensive style of play based on a rocket serve. He tries to win the point by hitting winners from the back of the court and attacks with fast balls that the opponent cannot reach or return properly. Sometimes, he uses the serve-and-volley style of play having solid net game and being quick around the net. He simply has fine touch for volleys. He tries to pressure the opponent to try to hit difficult passing shots. He has always been mainly challenger player but already made several good results and defeated some top opponents (Davydenko among others). His current form looks ok but he will face dangerous opponent in Tokyo. Soeda is the second best ranked player from Japan after Nishikori and will definitely be the big hope of Japanese fans. He is a challenger player as well but he is having a good season and we think he will have the chance against Delic. Soeda began the year with a quarterfinal finish in a Challenger in Hawaii in January to get back into the top-200. In February, he led Japan to a 5–0 win over the Philippines in Australia/Asia Zone Group 1 play, winning two singles and one doubles match. He then added 3 tournament victories at challengers and improved his ranking to 124. He is currently ranked as the World No. 130 which means he is even better ranked player than his US opponent. Bearing in mind that he will play at home soil, we don´t think he should be underdog in this match. Anything above 2.0 looks worth considering here.
