| Analysis | Head-to-head record 6:1 Two Spanish veterans will fight for the second round spot in Bucharest today. Alberto Martin has won three singles titles and one doubles title. He plays right-handed, and is typical Spanish clay court player. He has reached his career-best results on the slowest surface. Martin's best Grand Slam performance was reaching the fourth round of Roland Garros in 2006. En route to this performance, Martin's first round win was his first victory over former World number 1 Andy Roddick in their fifth encounter. He also managed to beat Lleyton Hewitt in the first round where Hewitt was seeded first at the 2002 Australian Open and managed to beat his country mate Carlos Moya once out of their 7 meetings. However, he has been struggling over the last few years and spent most of his time on challenger circuit. On the other hand, he currently plays in a solid form and was pretty impressive in qualifiers here. He will play one of the tennis heroes of the last decade. However, Carlos Moya has the similar style of play but his confidence should by hell down. His YTD clay-court record is really poor and his shocking losses on clay to players such as Querrey or Gulbis indicate he has been struggling a lot. Well, he has been improving a bit on hard courts over the last months but we are curious about his clay court come back, especially when he plays dangerous and experienced qualifier in the first round. Odds above 4 are worth trying for us. |
