| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:2 American player Sam Querrey will play with another serving man - tallest player on the circuit - Croat Ivo Karlovic. Many tennis experts have touted Querrey as America's next great talent, including Davis Cup Captain Patrick McEnroe. Querrey has a huge serve and forehand. He cracked the top 100 World Singles rankings following his third round performance at the Australian Open and is sometimes referred to as "The New Todd Martin." In March 2008 Querrey won his first ATP level tournament at the Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas. In the final Querrey defeated qualifier Kevin Anderson of South Africa in three tight sets. He destroyed Tomas Berdych (6:3,6:1,6:2) and Niclos Devilder (3:1) here in Flushing Meadows. Ivo is taking advantage of his height, he is heavily reliant on his serve. With a more acute angle from his racquet to the service line, his first serves have a higher chance of coming in, thereby rendering many of them unhittable, let alone returnable. With bad returns from his opponents, he normally just has to put the ball away for a winner without the need of a proper volley. We think he will not make his mark being a serve-only player and even when he already defeated many top players, he can easily loose to big underdogs as just a few points usually decide his matches. 2 points bet on American player. |
