| Analysis | Head-to-head 0:1 Another first round pick in New York will be match between Fernando Gonzalez of Chile and Ivan Navarro of Spain. You all know that we are not afraid of big odds matches and this match is our unusual pick for today. Fernando Gonzalez is an aggressive baseliner. His groundstrokes, especially on the forehand side, are extremely powerful. His speed and agility allow him to hit winners from practically anywhere in the court. But he usually makes a huge number of unforced errors, especially when he plays under pressure. This makes him inconsistent and vulnerable. His recent results in US tournaments aren´t convincing and he is definitely not in the form on hard courts this year. He played well in Beijing but it was Olympics tournament with special atmosphere and conditions. He will face Spaniard Ivan Navarro who is far from being world class player. He is untypical Spanish player as he is able to play on fast surfaces pretty well (mainly thanks to his good serve). His latest results on hardcourts are impressive, he lost in very tight match to Nalbandian here last year and he will fight bravely. 1 point bet on Navarro. |
