Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

This is going to be a very interesting match. Davydenko is currently playing in a very good shape and his clay-court form has been stellar so far. But as many of you expected, we are definitely not going to support Russian on grass. We take each and every opportunity to go against the Russian number 1 on grass last year and will probably do the same again. Even if he had the career-best season on grass last year, he hates this surface and we don’t think he can make it again. His overall record on grass is far from being even mediocre. His style of play is not suited to this surface at all as his main weapon is a movement on the baseline. Even if grass has been getting slower over the past few years, we can´t go with Davydenko here. Taking into account that he lacks practice on this surface since he played on clay in Warsaw instead of participating on grass events, we like the chances of his opponent here. Becker's primary weapon is a very big serve that he can hit in the 140's (mph), along with powerful groundstrokes. He grew up on hard surfaces and played some solid matches on grass in past. His form is awful this year but he appeared in a good light last week in Halle being defeated by strong Blake in a very tight second round match. Becker shouldn´t be such a big dog here and odds above 3.5 are good enough for us.
