Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

Czech prodigy Petra Kvitova will face Tatiana Perebiynis of Ukraine in Wimbledon´s opener. Perebiynis has not won a WTA Tour singles title, however she has won quite a few WTA Tour doubles titles. Her best performance at a Grand Slam came at Wimbledon in 2005, when she partnered with Australia's Paul Hanley in mixed doubles. The pair reached the final there. The following year, she partnered with fellow Ukrainian Yuliana Fedak for the qualifying event of women's doubles at Wimbledon. The pair qualified for the event, then reached the semi-finals. She was a talented junior and is currently a respected doubles player, she has had less success in singles on the main WTA tour. Though she swiftly climbed up the ranks early in her career, reaching the third round at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2004, her tennis career faltered when she was diagnosed with a viral infection mid-2005. She was forced out of competition for over six months and, as a result, her ranking plummeted outside of the top 200. In October 2007, Perebiynis reentered the top 100 after qualifying for the Kremlin Cup, jumping over 30 places to 97 in the rankings. Her current form is only average and she will hardly ever meet the expectations from the beginning of her career. She will play the Czech youngster Petra Kvitova. We have already praised her in past. She is the big hope of Czech tennis and the biggest young talent ever since Nicole Vaidisova has appeared. She is just 17 years old but already managed to defeat the top players such as Venus Williams. Her career record is really impressive. Of course, she has been gaining experience at small ITF tournaments so far but we think her time is coming. Kvitova has everything she needs to become a top player – speed, power, confidence and solid technique. She is a tall and aggressive player who feels well on fast surfaces. Last week he lost in her grass debut but we still think she is a player of bright future and are keen to support her at these odds.
