| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Kateryna Bondarenko started the season in a very bad shape having the record of 7-12 but she caught the second breath last week in Birmingham where she won the tournament by defeating Wickmayer in the final. Her other YTD results are hardly worth mentioning with the exception of Paris Gaz se France tournament where she reached the singles quarterfinals beating defending champion Nadia Petrova and fellow Ukranian Yuliana Fedak before falling to Elena Dementieva. In doubles, she partnered with her sister Alona again and won their back-to-back tour title. She played the Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp the week after. Beat countrywoman Tatiana Perebiynis in the 1st round. Then went out in the second round after a close match against young Russian Alisa Kleybanova. She was injured though, she had a left hip strain. That injury was also the reason for the loss in the doubles semi final, together with her sister. The injury prevented her from playing in Doha. Then she came back in Birmingham and celebrated winning comeback. Even if she played well last week, she seemed to be tired at the end of the week and her today´s match will be difficult in terms of fitness. Her opponent will be experienced Tamarine Tanasugarn. She turned professional in 1994, and has been in the top twenty in both singles and doubles. Her highest WTA ranking has been World Number 19. She always preferred fast surfaces and felt comfortable on grass. In her career, Tanasugarn has defeated former number ones Amélie Mauresmo and Jennifer Capriati. She has a lot of experience and her current form is not bad as she advanced from the qualifiers here. Odds around 3 are worth taking for the lowest stake. |
