| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Austrian veteran Sybille Bammer will face Russian qualifier in her first appearance at Eastbourne. She started 2008 by competing in the Gold Coast. She was the seventh seed but lost to eventual champion Na Li in a close match. She then got her first win over Nadia Petrova in the first round of the Medibank International in Sydney in straight sets, before losing to Katarina Srebotnik.Sybille was the 19th seed at the Australian Open. She defeated Tamarine Tanasugarn in the first round, before losing easily to Su-Wei Hsieh 6–2, 6–0. She lost in the first round of Antwerp to Yaroslava Shvedova. At the Qatar Total Open, Bammer made her first ever Tier I quarterfinal and scored the biggest win of her career over world number two Svetlana Kuznetsova. It was also her first ever top ten win. Her run was ended by eventual runner-up Vera Zvonareva. She followed it up by reaching the second round in Dubai, losing to Francesca Schiavone. At the Bangalore Open, she lost in the second round to Anastasia Rodionova after holding a 5–2 lead in the first set. She has continued with the average performances since then and her bad form culminated at French Open where she was surprisingly demolished in the first round by Wozniak 6–0, 6–2. Her grass court form doesn’t appear to be better as she was eliminated in the first round by Melanie South last week. In total, her YTD record of 11-14 is under average and her current form seems to be really bad. We think she will have hard times against Russian qualifier here. Kudryavtseva is also having a bad season but her qualifying run in here is worth mentioning. She defeated U.Radwanska, Savchuk and Poutchek all in straight sets and her self confidence must be pretty high at present. We believe she will be able to keep the match close today and odds above 2 are worth taking for us. |
