Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

David Nalbandian of Argentine will face Serb Victor Troicki in his first-ever match in Queens. Nalbandian turned professional in 2000 and 2 years later, he finished the year as No. 1 Argentine, winning two ATP titles and reaching the Wimbledon final, where he lost to Lleyton Hewitt. His run to the 2002 Wimbledon final is remarkable, considering that it was his first ever pro tournament on grass. But he didn’t manage to repeat that success on grass and his current form is questionable. Motivation is always the key factor in his game and we are not sure about his mental condition ate present. The Serb Troicki plays well on faster surfaces and could be a decent threat for experienced Nalbandian here. He is having a good year sofar. Troicki's first grand slam tournament came when he advanced as a qualifier for the 2008 Australian Open. Facing No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal in the first round, he played a tight match and held a set point in the first set, but lost 7–6(3), 7–5, 6–1. His next appearance was in the ATP Masters Series in Miami. He faced former No. 1 Andy Roddick in the second round, where Troicki was ranked 119th. It was an interesting match, taking the first set off Roddick, where he attempted an angled drop-shot in which Roddick returned it with an even more angled shot on his backhand. After this, it seemed to go downhill for Troicki and he eventually lost 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. His clay court season wasn’t that successful but we still see a big potential in young Serb and if he avoids making many unforced errors, he should be able at least to keep his serve and make the match interesting. Huge odds above 4 can be tried for the lowest stake.
