Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

Petra Kvitova will face Kateryna Bondarenko in the first round. We have already praised Kvitova couple of times. She is the big hope of Czech tennis and the biggest young talent ever since Nicole Vaidisova has appeared. She is just 17 years old but already managed to defeat some of the top players such as Venus Williams or Medina and kept it tight against Dementieva. Her career record of 72 wins-23 losses is really impressive. Of course, she has been gaining experience at small ITF tournaments so far but we think her time is coming and she already cracked into the top 100. Kvitova has everything she needs to become a top player – speed, power, confidence and solid technique. She is a tall and aggressive player who feels better on fast surfaces but is competitive on clay as well. She has played just one clay court match this year and she lost to Azarenka in Prague. But Azarenka was probably the stronger opponent than younger Bondarenko sister is going to be today. Ukrainian turned pro in 2000 and plays aggressive right-handed tennis. Her recent results are mediocre but it seems she will catch up her more famous sister soon. On June 11 2007 she achieved her career high singles ranking – world no. 39. She pulled off the biggest win of her tennis career so far at Stuttgart by beating Serbian star Ana Ivanovic to be defeated by Tatiana Golovin in quarters. However, we think she also feels better on hard courts and we expect a really tight match today. Kvitova is a player of big potential and future and we think she has at least 50% chance today. Anythink above 2.0 on the young Czech star is worth taken here.
