| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Czech qualifier Ivo Minar will face Croatian giant Mario Ancic in the first round. Ancic plays an all-court game and is able to adapt his game to all surfaces, making him a difficult player to play regardless of the surface. He improved on clay within the past seasons, however, his most favourite surface remains indoor hard. He also has a good serve and is capable of producing many aces in a match. On grass and faster surfaces he serves and volleys but on slower courts he is more than able to rally from the back of the court. Ancic has the great results this year so far but he still lacks the match practice on clay and well prepared Minar could be a hard nut to crack for him. Ivo Minar took the big step up this year and his stellar form continued in Monte Carlo qualifiers where he defeated Roger-Vasselin and Benneteau. He prefers slow surfaces and his biggest weapon in the patient play from the baseline. Ancic is still one class above him but if he plays his best, he is able to keep it tight. Odds above 2.5 are interesting for us. |
