Nicolas Kiefer will play Spanish number 1, Rafael Nadal in the opening match. Kiefer´s best years already passed away but he is still a serious competitor and made some solid results at the end of the last season. He prefers fast courts and the surface in Bremen should suit him well. He lost to Nadal few days ago but this should be a different match. Kiefer will be supported by the home crowd and we believe that he can keep the match close today. He has a solid serve and if everything goes fine, he will be a hard nut to crack for Nadal. He is an underdog without any doubts but his odds shouldn’t be above 4. Nadal is having a pretty good season but he seems to be unreliable. He fell to Davydenko in the final at Miami and his self-confidence went down surely. His motivation for DC clash is also questionable as he is having a lot of problems with his knees and we think he could subconsciously play not at 100%. Nadal's playing style has been best tailored for clay courts. However, Nadal has quickly developed to become an all courts player. But the indoors condition in Bremen should be an advantage for his opponent. Nadal is a favourite in this match but Kiefer´s odds above 4.0 are worth trying for a small stake.
