| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:1 Camille Pin of France will face Ukrainian Olga Savchuk in the first round at Miami Sony Ericsson Open 2008. Pin was struggling this year even when she won the Hilton Cup, defeating American Asia Muhammad in the finals. She plays right-handed and prefers hard courts but her current form is questionable. She played well at small tournament in Las Vegas but hasn’t faced any top opponent there. Last week, she was eliminated in the first round at Indian Wells by her country mate Rezai. Savchuk reached her career high ranking of 85 this year. Her results from the beginning of the year weren´t impressive but she improved significantly within the last few weeks. She was edged out by Mirza in the second round at Indian Wells last week but looked well in qualifiers here. She prefers faster court surfaces. Her game is characterized by a combination of consistent rallying and aggressive baseline points. She is adept at using the 'angles' of the court to exploit slower opponents, and is able to mix the pace of her groundstrokes during a point. The major weaknesses in her game are her second serves and occasional inconsistency. We think she should be competitive against Camille Pin. French woman isn´t as much better as odds indicate and we see almost the equal chances on both sides. |
