| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Sam Warburg, American qualifier will face Potito Starace of Italia in the opening round at Miami Sony Ericsson Open. Warburg is a typical US player who grew up on hard courts and should feel well within these conditions. The surface in Miami should be faster then the one in California last week and this should suit to all the US players much more. Warburg came through the qualifiers here beating Brzezicki and Guccione both in straight sets. Starace is a better ranked player but he doesn’t like anything faster than clay. He is a typical defensive-minded clay-courter with solid movement and good play from the baseline. On the other hand, the tall American has a good serve and he often approaches the net. In front of the home crowd and with the self-confidence boosted up by qualifying matches, he should be able to keep his serve against Starace. Warburg doesn’t like the long rallies and he would have a tough job against Starace on slower surfaces but we think he should be a slight favourite within these conditions. Odds above 1.9 can be taken here. |
