| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:1 Experienced Czech No.2 will meet David Nalbandian in the third round at Indian Wells. We have already written about both of these guys many praising words but tonight, we see the value on the side of Stepanek. We expected his odds to be around 2.2 but this level seems to be worth trying. We don’t know why Bandy is considered to be such a big favourite here. Well, he has an impressive YTD record of 13wins-2 losses but this is mainly thanks to his recent stellar run on clay! He hasn’t played in such a good shape on Australian soil in the beginning of the year and his hard-courts performances were just average. He employs a very aggressive baseline game and his main strengths lie in his groundstrokes and return game, and are complemented by his deft accuracy and incredible foot speed. Nalbandian's trademark shot is his two-handed backhand down the line, which he often uses to set up point, by either hitting a clean winner, or forcing a weak return from the opponent. His serve is not one of his strengths which is something Stepanek could take advantage of. Czech player is a big fighter who never gives up. He is a versatile player with both solid serve and good baseline play which enables him to be successful on all surfaces. He often uses serve-and-volley strategy. His offensive style of play sometimes results in many unforced errors but he played enormously well in the first round against Mirnyi and we think he is able to keep the match tight today. |
