Analysis

Head-to-head record 4:1

Ivan Ljubicic will face Spaniard Tommy Robredo in the third round match at 2008 Indian Wells. Ljubicic is tall and powerfully built and noted for his strong serve. He has achieved his best results at indoor tournaments played on carpet or hardcourt. He often uses a one-handed backhand and often plays from the baseline. He may find the conditions here a bit slower than he needs. His first tournament of 2008 was in Doha, where he reached the semifinals, losing to Wawrinka. However, Ivan suffered a shocking first round defeat at the Oz Open losing to Dutchman Haase in the first round. He then won a challenger in South Africa and entered the draw in Zagreb, where, as the home crowd favorite, suffered a shocking upset by Ukrainian lucky loser Stakhovsky. His first round match against Cilic was pretty tight and according to the expectations, just a few points decided the match. His opponent will be Tommy Robredo who hasn’t played well recently but showed some solid form in the first round against Massu. He finally managed to win a long match and to prevail in the key moments. This match will be totally different from the first round for both of them. None of these players is currently at their best but we see them much closer than odds are saying. Massu above 2.4 looks good enough for us.
