| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:1 South-African Rik de Voest will face Michael Berrer of Germany. We can´t see why Berrer is such a big favourite in this one. De Voest came through qualifiers beating Dlouhy and Meffert and even when we don’t consider him to be a world-beater, he should have decent chances in this one. Berrer lacks match practice in these conditions as he hasn’t played on outdoor hard courts since Australian Open. To be honest, we don’t think De Voest is able to make any good result any time soon but it could be enough for the first round here. He has achieved several successes on Challenger circuit but can hardly compete at pro tour as his play is limited. Anyway, he could find the slower condition suitable and should prevail in terms of backcourt game. Berrer is a typical hard-courter with killing serve but his movement is limited though. He might feel better on a bit faster surface. We see the equal chances tonight and so we recommend going with De Voest with odds above 2.0 |
