| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 American youngster, Melanie Oudin will play Maret Ani of Estonia in the opening round of 2008 Indian Wells. Oudin is 16-years old girl who is considered to be a big talent of US tennis. She is still low positioned at WTA ranking but her recent results show her ability and ambitions. Her YTD record is impressive (9 wins-2 losses) and even when she hasn’t played any famous opponent yet, her confidence must be sky high. We saw her playing last year at 2007 US Open qualifiers against Morita and were pretty impressed by happy-go-luckiness and confidence. She is definitely able to crack into top 100 soon and this could be a good starting point for her career. She is a typical US player who grew up on hard courts and plays offensive tennis. Of course, she still needs to improve the power but this is something that should automatically come while she is getting older. Her opponent will be experienced Estonian, Maret Ani whose self confidence is probably at zero point. Her season has been terrible so far having the record of 0 wins - 5 losses. She dropped out of the top 100 and hasn’t shown a good tennis this year so far. She feels better on clay and we believe that Oudin should be competitive today. Odds above 2.15 could be worth taking here. |
