Analysis

Head-to-head record 2:0

Guillermo Canas played his first tournament this year in Acapulco last week but it was on clay and he wasn´t impressive there at all being kicked out in the second round. Canas plays a defensive counter-punching game from the baseline, and utilizes his retrieving skills in order to frustrate opponents. He uses a two-handed backhand and his favourite surface is clay. We doubt that he has put much in practice on hardcourts this year and think that the main reason of his Las Vegas trip is practicing for upcoming US Masters series events. Johansson´s best years have already passed but the Swedish veteran beat Safin at Memphis and made also some other solid results this year. He is a typical hard-courter with offensive style of play and should feel comfortable on US hardcourts. He is often having difficulties on return but it shouldn´t be this case as Canas is not a world class server. We just think that Canas isn´t fully prepared for hard courts and odds around 2 can be taken here.
