| Analysis | Head-to-head record 1:0 David Ferrer, the Spanish No. 2 will play Tommy Haas of Germany in the opening round of Dubai Championships. It will be a battle of two players who aren´t currently at their best. Both Ferrer and Haas have been struggling lately and even when Ferrer made some good results in the beginning of the year, we don´t think he should be such a big favourite for this match. Ferrer is especially known for his fighting spirit and unwillingness to concede defeat. He is particularly dangerous clay court player, though he has had several respectable results on faster surfaces as well. His highest and current ranking to date is World Number 4. Ferrer opened the season with a disappointing quarterfinal loss to unseeded Julian Benneteau of France at Auckland. However, he reached the 2nd week of the Australian Open falling to Novak Dokovic in the quarterfinal. Last week in Rotterdam, he lost to Mischa Zverev in the second round and his performance was far from being his standard. Tommy Haas has an all-court playing style. He is seen as an intense and emotional player, sometimes having outbursts on the court. He missed the beginning of the season and returned for US hard courts in February. His results haven´t been impressive so far but he should be competitive on the surface in Dubai and these odds are just too high. We think odds above 3 are worth trying at least for a small stake. |
