This is going to be a very interesting match between 2 young guns of WTA circuit. The World No. 19, Agnieszka Radwanska was forced to fight in qualifiers for 2008 Barclays Dubai Tennis Championship but she managed to come through pretty easily (defeating Baltacha, Hrdinova and Zheng). She is having a stellar season so far with the impressive record of 15 wins – 3 losses. Radwanska upset World No. 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova in the third round of the Australian Open. She then defeated 14th-seededed Nadia Petrova to reach her first Grand Slam singles tournament quarterfinal. There, Radwanska lost to Daniela Hantuchova. At the Pattaya Women's Open in Thailand, she won her second career WTA tournament singles title, beating Jill Craybas in the final. In February, she reached her first Tier I semifinal at the Qatar Total Open in Doha to be eventually beaten by Maria Sharapova. She seems to be in a great shape and should enjoy the conditions in Dubai. Her opponent will be the World No.6, Anna Chakvetadze who hasn’t met the expectations this season so far. At the Australian Open, Chakvetadze lost in the third round to Maria Kirilenko. She then helped defending champion Russia win its first round tie against Isreal in Fed Cup by defeating Obziler. She was the top-seed at the Tier II Open Gaz de France in Paris. She defeated Mauresmo in the quarterfinals, Bartoli in the semifinals, and Szavay in the final to win her seventh career singles title. But she has been struggling since then and lost twice in the first round (to Arvidsson and Na Li). Both of these girls enjoy offensive style of play and both of them are very ambitious. We expect a tight match where Radwanska should be a slight favourite. Odds around 2.0 are worth trying.
