| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Tathiana Garbin, an experienced Italian player will play young Polish prodigy, Urszula Radwanska in the first round at 2008 Qatar Total Open. Garbin is a solid player and the last year was one of the best seasons in her career. She reached the 3rd round of Australian Open, 4th round at Roland Garros and made some good results on smaller tournaments as well which catapulted her into the top 25 for the first time in her long career. But she is said to play rather on clay and has never felt well on fast surfaces. In 2008, she has had an average YTD record so far winning 3 matches out of 7 she played. Her biggest win comes from Gold Coast where she defeated Petrova and the worst loss came one week later in Sydney where she lost to Fedak in qualifiers. Her opponent will be Urszula Radwanska, the Polish tennis player and a younger sister of Agnieszka Radwanska. She is just 17 years old but will probably have a bright future. Last year, she was very successful mainly in the girls´ circuit - she won her first doubles WTA title in Istanbul, playing together with her sister, Agnieszka. Then she won the Girls Singles Wimbledon Tournament and the Girls Doubles Wimbledon Tournament as well. In September she achieved another Girls Doubles grand slam title at U.S Open (with Ksenia Milevskaya) and played in final of Girls Singles. She is currently making the transition to the women's league by winning a couple of first round matches in the last weeks. She is a versatile player who should feel comfortable in Qatar. She has improved her game a lot during the last year and it looks like she keeps on improving. She played well in qualifiers where she demolished two seeded players (O´Brien, Nagy) and we believe she has a decent chance in the first round as well. Odds above 2.1 are worth trying for us. |
