| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 As the first match, we chose the all-German battle between young qualifier Mathias Bachinger and his fellow countryman - experienced Michael Berrer. Matthias Bachinger turned professional in 2005. He has never cracked into top 100 so far but we think he is a player of decent potential. His biggest career ATP success comes from 2007 Munich tournament on clay. After reaching the second round of the Munich tournament, Bachinger created a stir when he won the first set over Marcos Baghdatis, who was ranked 19 at the time, in a tiebreaker. Bachinger went on to lose the match 7-6,2-6,4-6. He plays right-handed and his biggest weapon is the killing serve. He is an offensive minded player who hits the balls hard from all positions. Bachinger plays well on surfaces, however, fast indoor should be suited best to his game. He plays well in qualifiers beating 2 Australians, Alun Jones and Robert Smeets. His countrymate, Michael Berrer is much more experienced from ATP level. He achieved his career high rank of 51 last year. But this year has been disappointing for him so far. He has lost his last 3 matches of the season to Karanusic, Jun and Gabashvili. Odds against him look pretty fair today and we find them worth trying for a point. |
