Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

Eduardo Schwank, the promising clay-courter from Argentine will play Peter Luczak of Australia in the second round at 2008 Costa do Sauipe. Luczak hasn’t been playing in a good shape lately. He has had a relatively average ATP Tour career, with his best performance coming in the 2006 Australian Open, where he defeated Olivier Rochus, to progress to the third round. He also reached the semi-finals beating Fernando Gonzalez at the Brasil Open in 2005. Luczak has had a successful career on the challenger events, particularly on clay. To date, he has won many challenger tournaments. He began his 2008 season with representing Australia in the Hopman Cup and went 1-2 win loss. Not able to win a match in Sydney Luczak was able to win his first round at the 2008 Australian Open (but he defeated really bad hardcourter Mariano Zabaleta). He won his second ATP match of the year here in Brazil defeating mediocre Daniel. Eduardo Schwank is a pure claycourter with all pre-dispositions he needs for dirt. He is still relatively young player but his career record on clay Futures and Challengers is impressive. He has won several tournaments on clay. In 2008, he has shown some solid performances and his career biggest win comes from the first round of this tournament. After going through the qualifiers, he demolished Igor Andreev in straight sets. We think he is a better player for claycourts than Luczak and with the self-confidence boosted from the first round he should be able to outplay Peter Luczak here. Odds above 1.7 are worth considering for us.
