| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Experience Russian Petrova will face A.Radwanska, a talented Polish youngster, in the 4th round at 2008 Australian Open. It could be a tricky match. To be honest, we expected the odds on Radwanska to be around 2 so the value within these conditions is questionable. On the other hand, we were prepared to back at least 4-5 points on this pick because we think that the Polish girl will win tonight. Even when the current odds aren’t brilliant we will try it for a smaller stake. Petrova is much more experienced but her current results aren’t impressive at all. She has played the very acceptable opponents so far (Pratt, Kremer and Makarova) and despite of this, her performances weren’t stellar. She hasn’t been playing well even before Australian Open. For the start of the 2008 season, Petrova entered the tournament at Gold Coast, Australia. She was the second seed in the tournament, but was knocked out by Tathiana Garbin in her opening match. Things did not get any better in Sydney she fell to Sybille Bammer in the first round. The losses meant that she had started her season with a 0-2 record. On the other hand, Radwanska had an enormously challenging draw (she defeated Savchuk, Parmentier and Kuznetsova all in straight sets) and she must be very confident recently. She feels comfortable here in Melbourne but is capable to play well on all surfaces and there is a bright future ahead of her without any doubts. As we said, current odds aren’t huge but if you look at players´ form rather than their names, these odds are still acceptable and worth taken. |
