Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

Brydan Klein is an Australian youngster who prefers to play on a fast surface, such as grass or hard. Klein has yet to become an active competitor on the main ATP Tour. However, he showed some solid performances at Kooyong exhibition against the world-class players and did receive a wildcard from Tennis Australia for the 2008 Australian Open. He is a winner of the junior Australian Open and his most dangerous weapon is powerful and accurate first serve. He is an offensive baseliner and the new faster plexicushion surface in Melbourne should be well suited to him. Currently, Klein competes mainly on the ATP Challenger Series and ITF Men's Circuit. He will face Paul Capdeville of Chile. Capdeville's best ATP performances came at Memphis (2006) and Washington (2007), reaching the quarters of each. Even when he achieved his best results on hard surfaces, he is a clay court specialist with a game that revolves around groundstrokes with heavy topspin. On fast surfaces his game is compromised by his comparatively weak serve. But the main reason for this pick is Capdeville´s current form, which is far from being his best. He lost to Melzer in Chennai (2:6,4:6) and was demolished in qualifiers for Sydney by Mediocre Czech player Ivo Minar (1:6,2:6). Brydan Klein has a solid chance to succeed ahead of his home crowd and we odds at this level are worth taking for us.
